Dylan julkaisi vuonna 2013 Bootleg Series (BS) -sarjan osan 10, joka sisälsi New Morning (NM)  ja Self Portrait (SP) -albumien outtakes (eli hyllytettyjä) -kappaleita sekä  alternate (eli vaihtoehtoisia versioita) -kappaleista. Nyt, ehkä hieman yllättäen, Dylan palaa aiheeseen jo helmikuussa 2021, jolloin julkaistaan myös laajalle yleisölle 1970, 50th Anniversary collection. Normaalistihan nämä Dylanin vuosittaiset Anniversary -kokoelmat julkaistaan vain superrajoitettuna 100 kappaleen painoksena, koska niiden ensisijainen tarkoitus on juridinen eli niiden avulla levy-yhtiö pystyy pidentämään julkaisemattoman materiaalin oikeuksia siten etteivät nuo 50 vuotta vanhat levytykset muutu public domain -tyyppisiksi, jolloin muiden julkaisijoiden ei enää tarvitse maksaa rojalteja levy-yhtiölle. Mutta tällä kertaa levy-yhtiö tekee siis poikkeuksen eli vaikka tämä 1970 -kokoelma julkaistiin rajoitettuna jo joulukuussa 2020, tehdään siitä nyt myös ”yleisöpainos”. Miksi näitä NM- ja SP-outtakeseja ei voitu julkaista jo vuonna 2013 BS10:n yhteydessä? Tällaista tämä on, levy-yhtiöllä pitää olla aina jokin ”ässä” taskussaan, muuten bisnekset kärsivät. Uuden julkaisun sisältö on varsin mielenkiintoinen eli kappaleet ovat nämä:
